The Process

Inspection – Before the dry cleaning process is started, our employees will inspect each of your items by hand. This will help us identify stains and/or damage that may need special attention. Damage such as missing buttons, broken zippers, or torn garments are normally identified during this stage.
Pre Treatment – during this phase we will apply stain removal agents or steam directly upon the stain. This is normally all that is needed to treat the issue.
Cleaning – Dry Cleaning is just as it sounds, a water-free process. Your items are placed into our machines which in turn expose the garment to a dry cleaning solvent and tumbled. This works by lifting the stain and surface dirt from the fabric. This solvent is then filtered to ensure cleanliness.

Post treatment inspection – after the garment is cleaned a second inspection is performed to identify any stubborn stain. Dry cleaning normally removes grease stains and water stains are normally identified during this post treatment phase whereby they are again treated to remove additional residue. There is always a possibility that certain stains caused by dyes and tannins cannot be properly removed. The attendant will make note of any stubborn stains and will contact you for further instructions.
Finishing – Typically, if further treatments are required, during the finishing phase your garment will be steamed, ironed, and pressed to ensure that they are ready for your use. For additional protection, your belongings will typically be wrapped individually in plastic garment bags and made ready for pickup or delivery.

Historically, a synthetic solvent called perchlorethylene (commonly abbreviated as “perc,” or PCE) was typically used as a dry cleaning solvent. Today, PCE is no longer used by most dry cleaners and has been replaced by new dry cleaning methods like heated hydrocarbon and silicone-based solvents.
